The kick off meeting for representing the regional project: “Sustainable development goals in Western Balkan“ was held in the premises of REC Country Office Macedonia on February 28, 2018 (Wednesday). Beneficiary countries within the project are the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Albania and Montenegro.The purpose of the project is to assist countries in their efforts approaching the requirements of the 2030 Agenda through provision of technical assistance for the carrying of the Decision regarding the priority Sustainable Development Goals on a national level, as well as support in defining national indicators for all subgoals for the priority SDG’s.
The purpose of the meeting was to unite participants from all relevant Ministries and National Institutions for an open dialogue on sustainable development and the implementation of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the invited countries based on:
The past achievements on the area of the implementations of Sustainable development goals in Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and
- Expected activities for realization at the national level, for the period from 2018-2020
- At the meeting participated the following institutions/organizations:

- The Ministry of Finance
- The Ministry of Transport and Communications
- The Ministry of Education and Science
- The Ministry of Environment and Physical Planning
- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- MANU
- Economic Institute, Skopje
- UNDP-UN Coordination sector
- State Statistical Office and the
- NGO’s sector
The participants of the meeting are members of a technical Working Group for sustainable development, founded by the Cabinet of the Vice President of the Government of the Republic Macedonia in charge of economic affairs, or experts who worked on previous activities with this institution.
The project which will be implemented in the following 2-3 years, it is operated with the financial support of the Program for Advisory Assistance intended for Environmental Protection by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) intended for the Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia and other neighboring countries of the European Union. The implementation of the project will be observed by the German Environmental Agency (UBA).
