On 16.12.2019 in h. Continental, Skopje, in the framework of GEF/UNIDO funded Project titled “Catalyzing market transformation for industrial energy efficiency and accelerate investments in best available practices and technologies in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” implemented by Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe (REC), Country Office Macedonia (COM), the Round Table on “Gender issues in the field of industrial energy efficiency” was held.
The roundtable was opened by Mrs. Tamara Radovanovikj Angjelkovska from REC COM. Within the first session of the program three ladies delivered speech: Mrs. Marija Ristevska, UNIDO expert on gender issues, had presentation for gender equality in industry; the President of “Association of Business Women”, Mrs. Valentina Disoska talked about the present state of affairs of women in business and women entrepreneurs; and Mrs. Irena Dimova, Quality Manager in company “Genterm” presented the case of women in industry, especially from the perspective of manager.
In the second session there was a plenary discussion on gender issues in industrial energy efficency and energy management system in industry. In this session all the participants discussed about different questions like: benefits of gender diversity, which are the specific caracteristics of women managers that can contribute to improve the work of the whole team, what are the challenges for implementation of energy management system of the female Energy Managers and what are the lessons learnt and opportunities presented. From the discussion emerged recommendations for the companies, decision makers and UNIDO on how to increase gender equality in the industry and in the energy management system.
The workshop, among others, aimed to help gather attitudes, viewpoints and statistics that will further assist in preparation of the Gender Study in the field of industrial energy efficiency.
