The Regional Environmental Center (REC) – Country Office Macedonia, in the frames of the project “Stabilizing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from road transport through doubling of global vehicle fuel economy: Regional implementation of the Global Fuel Economy Initiative”, participated at the International Conference „Towards sustainable development“.

Mr. Jozhe Jovanovski, Technical expert from the REC, presented and promoted the project in the frames of the session “Environment and physical planning“.

The presentation is a part of the promotional activities of the project and an introduction of the main scope of the project – preparation of the National Fuel Economy Policy. The main components of the presentation were the prepared data basis of registered vehicles in the Republic of Macedonia and the possibilities for the establishment of a Central Registry for vehicles and reforms of the taxation system in the Republic of Macedonia, in terms of entering the СО₂ emissions as a taxation criteria.

Representatives from Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo were present at the conference.
